Ram Metser, CEO
Ram is responsible for overall strategy execution. He brings over 25 years of leadership and successful company building experience to ScaleBase. Most recently he served as vice president at IBM’s Information Management division, where he led the database security, data governance and optimization product groups. Previously, as President & CEO of Guardium, Inc. he led the company from its initial start-up phase to a market dominance position, and its acquisition by IBM. Prior to Guardium, Ram was vice president and general manager of Nokia Intelligent Applications. He was also the co-founder & CEO of Telekol Corporation. Under his leadership, Telekol developed into a leading supplier of enterprise class unified communications software and was acquired by Nokia. Ram also serves as a director and advisor on corporate boards, and is a past member of the Board of Trustees of the Solomon Schechter Day School of greater Boston. He holds both a BA and MBA from the University of Massachusetts.
David Valovcin, Executive Vice President of Field Operations
David is responsible for overall field operations at ScaleBase, leading its worldwide sales strategy and execution. He joins ScaleBase with a proven track record of taking companies from startup to over $200 million in revenue. David held various roles with worldwide responsibility in organizations from innovative startups to one of the largest public software companies in the world – IBM. At IBM, he managed the Guardium brand, from its initial acquisition to its market dominating position. David leverages deep experience in customer-centric sales and channel development, specializing in early-stage sales strategies. Prior to IBM he held several senior roles at Guardium, Courion and Pegasystems. David holds a BS/BA in Economics, Finance and Foreign Languages from American International College with study abroad at the Université de Fribourg, Switzerland. David resides in Weston, MA and when not helping organizations scale at the speed of business, he enjoys riding his motorcycles on the back roads of Maine.
Petr Dvorak, Vice President of Research & Development
Petr is responsible for research and development as well as product management at ScaleBase. He brings over fifteen years of experience in building innovative enterprise products and bringing them to market. Prior to ScaleBase he was responsible for product management at Entuity, where he managed product and strategy, as well as Entuity’s product integration with its major OEM and channel partners such as BMC, Dell and Oracle. Previously, Petr held senior R&D and product management positions at Hewlett-Packard/Mercury Interactive/Systinet (acquisitions), where he helped deliver disruptive SOA technologies that transformed the landscape of critical business IT operations and B2B integration. In this role, Petr was also member of standards bodies such as OASIS and WS-* consortia. Petr holds a BS and a MS in Computer Science from Palacký University and is an avid mountain biker in his spare time.
Vladi Vexler, Vice President of Technology and Product Marketing
Vladi is responsible for delivering technology platform innovation and go-to-market execution, ensuring customer success. He brings over 15 years of technology leadership and product marketing to ScaleBase. Vladi has extensive experience in delivering innovative database products to market in the Enterprise, Web and Cloud arenas. Prior to joining ScaleBase, Vladi founded SafePeak Technologies. SafePeak develops a state of the art dynamic database caching engine, enabling performance acceleration of databases and applications. Prior to SafePeak, Vladi managed R&D at Scepia (acquired by Matrix), a leading e-commerce solutions platform. Vladi has consulted on performance and scalability architecture and designs to Telecom, Military and Financial enterprises and has been a frequent conference speaker. Vladi holds a BA in Management and Economics from Tel-Aviv University, where he is also currently in a MBA program.
Grigori Khmyrov, Director of Engineering
Grigori is responsible for overall product development execution at ScaleBase. He has over 30 years of experience developing innovative software products, from embedded systems to enterprise applications. Prior to joining ScaleBase Grigori was a Principal Software Engineer at the University of Massachusetts where he was responsible for delivering mission critical projects including image recognition software and instrumentation software for satellite and ground-based radar systems. These systems ran on massive databases with interactive web based applications handling hundreds of GB of data and analytical information from over 50 stations around the world. Previous to that he ran two successful software startups producing multi-user financial applications. Grigori holds a MS in Physics and BS in Computer Science from Irkutsk State University. In free time he is avid Argentine Tango instructor.
Noam Asner, Data Architect
Noam is responsible for designing and developing ScaleBase product and architecture. Noam has extensive experience in architecting and delivering innovative database products to market as a software engineer and data architect. Prior to ScaleBase, Noam was a member of the incubator team at BMC that was responsible for a variety of innovations with in the IT domain. While there he worked closely with multiple databases, including DB schema design, writing SQL scripts and using ORM technologies. Noam holds a BS in Computer Science from Ben-Gurion University.
Paul Campaniello, Vice President of Global Marketing
Paul is responsible for ScaleBase’s worldwide marketing strategy, execution and sales support. Paul brings over 25 years of experience with software startup companies to ScaleBase. Paul has held several senior marketing and sales positions including VP of Marketing at Mendix, Lumigent, ESI, ComBrio and Savantis. Prior to Savantis, he was at Precise Software, where he helped build Precise from a private, venture-backed startup to a public company with $80 million in revenue in just four years, prior to its sale to Veritas for $600 million. Paul holds both a BS and a MBA from Bentley University. When not obsessing over marketing strategy and execution, he enjoys spending time with his wife and two young children.
Michael Castricone, Vice President of Finance and Operations
Mike is responsible for ScaleBase’s financial and business operations. He brings 25 years of financial and administrative experience in the technology industry to ScaleBase. Mike has held several senior financial positions including vice president of finance and administration at IBM where he joined as a result of IBM’s successful acquisition of Guardium. While there he was responsible for financial operations, IT and human resources. Prior to the acquisition Mike was the CFO of Guardium for over 7 years. Prior to that, he served as a controller in Nokia Networks via the acquisition of Telekol Corporation, where he also served as controller. Mike holds a BS in Interdisciplinary Mathematics from the University of New Hampshire and a MS in Accountancy from Bentley University. He is a licensed CPA in Massachusetts.
